Staged by Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), the Collins Cup is a Ryder Cup-inspired format seeing teams of 12 triathletes representing USA, Europe and Internationals pitched against each other on a 2km swim, 80km bike, and 18km run course in Šamorín, Slovakia.

The format involved 12 races, 6 female and 6 male, featuring one athlete from each of the three geographic teams. At the end of a full day of exciting racing, one team was crowned the winner. 

Showcasing some of the best talent, drama and tactics that the world of triathlon has to offer, the Collins Cup brought together the who’s who in the triathlon world, from Olympic Triathletes, such as Katie Zaferes, and Multi World Champions, Daniela Ryf and Jan Frodeno. Team Captains were triathlon Sporting Legends including the likes of Simon Whitfiled, Natashca Baddaman, Normann Stadler and Lisa Bentley.  All the action was broadcast live on Eurosport with commentary from some of the world of sports most famous voices including Phil Ligget and Alex Payne.

With world class proven & established technical expertise across elite triathlon event delivery, Lisa supports the Sport Competition Management for the Collins Cup.

British Swimming Championships 2022

Recommended to British Swimming by UKSport, Lisa Dent from Breakthrough Events was contracted in as the Event Manager to deliver British Swimming’s flagship domestic meet. The event saw over 1500 swimmers take to the pool across 6 days of back to back competition as athletes compete for senior and junior titles. Reported as one of the largest British Swimming events to take place since 2018, welcoming back over 500 spectators after an enforced hiatus due to the pandemic.

With the likes of Adam Peaty, Freya Anderson, Tom Dean and James Guy competing, the Olympic Stars and Podium potentials created eye catching competition culminating in an 8 lane final with 8 British Olympians.

The British Swimming Championships are a key selection meet for the British Swimming High Performance Team. Drafted in late on Breakthrough Events had just shy of 5 weeks to deliver this major event working with the British Swimming High Performance team, Meet Director, Technical Director and the Ponds Forge Venue Team.

With six days of back-to-back livestreamed competition and one day of in-venue training, this was the biggest event hosted by British Swimming since 2018. So when British Swimming lost their event team just weeks before the event, we stepped in to deliver their flagship domestic meet, welcoming over 1500 world-class swimmers and more than 500 spectators to the pool for the first time since the pandemic.

Hot on the heels of the CITI Para Swimming World Series event delivery in Aberdeen, our Founder, Lisa Dent remained in-post as interim Event Manager and Project Lead with British Swimming to ensure the successful delivery of their flagship annual event in Sheffield.

With the likes of Adam Peaty, Freya Anderson, Tom Dean and James Guy competing, the drama was high at a week-long, action-packed event that culminated in an 8 lane final between 8 British Olympians. Seamless organisation was essential: and that is exactly what we delivered.

The Meet Director explains, “Lisa Dent was brought in at short notice to manage the event. She did an excellent job and took on roles that were outside her comfort zone to ensure that the event ran well. Without her we would have struggled to deliver the event. Her work made the event a success.”

Responsibilities included:

• Leadership across all operational delivery of the biggest event delivered by British Swimming, post-COVID: this was the first time they have welcomed spectators back to the venue
• Delivering an elite-level event in accordance with National Federation regulations and technical classification guides
• Sourcing an appropriate medical team, coordinating emergency response provision and recruiting all event volunteers
• Managing and working with external parties including Great Big Events, timing & results, medical, technical officials, venues, catering and accommodation providers
• Efficient liaison with internal stakeholders including British Swimming’s Sports Presentation, Branding and Competition Management teams
• Project management responsibility, including budget and COVID management protocols
• Presenting post-event recommendations to support British Swimming in their future management of large-scale events

Taking place at the Aberdeen Sports Village’s Aquatics Centre the CITI Para Swimming World Series event was a four-day competition incorporating the domestic British Para-Swimming Meet 2022.

The event played host to some of the worlds top Para-Swimmers with British athletes challenging for places on senior British teams, utilising the event to race their international counterparts where the event will also play a part in selections for 2022’s World Championships in Madeira.

When British Swimming lost their events team just six weeks before the CITI Para Swimming World Series in Aberdeen, we stepped into the breach. Taking on the role of interim Project Lead, we delivered a successful 4-day international event that played host to some of the world’s top para-swimmers and incorporated the British Para-Swimming Meet 2022 as well as part of the British team selection process.

With only six weeks to go before the launch event of the newly rebranded CITI Para Swimming World Series, our founder Lisa Dent had to get up to speed fast when she stepped in as interim Project Lead and Event Manager with British Swimming.

Despite having no previous experience of delivering an international level swimming event, Lisa’s years of international event management experience stood her in good stead. She hit the ground running, liaising with high-level stakeholders including international and national sports federations; venue staff and internal teams, to deliver a successful world-class event.

Responsibilities included:

• Delivering an event in accordance with National and International Federation regulations and technical classification guides (World Para Swimming, British Swimming, Scottish Swimming)
• Managing and working with external parties including timing & results, medical, venue management, technical officials, field of play volunteers
• Efficient liaison with internal stakeholders including British Swimming’s Sports Presentation, Branding and Competition Management teams
• Developing operational planning documentation including risk assessments, athlete guides and technical guides
• Working with World Para Swimming to manage entries and results, coordinate facilities, training, competition schedules, athlete accommodation, athlete transport, and officials.
• Project management including management of budget and COVID protocols
• Presenting post-event recommendations to support British Swimming as they prepare to host the event for the next three years

First established in 2007, Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) has become one of the UK’s largest Mountain Festivals.

Breakthrough Events were approached to support the operations & logistics across the event where Lisa heads up the role as the Operations Director across the planning, build & delivery phase of the festival.

KMF sees over 20,000 visitors and 100+ exhibitors from across the outdoor industry come together over 2.5 days. 

The festival takes place on the shores of Derwent Water and boasts 360 degrees views of one the most stunning areas in the Lakes District.

This family-friendly festival is all about inspiring people to get out into the great outdoors. In 2021, the festival created an accessibility zone with exhibitors that supported access into the outdoors for those with disabilities, helping to make the outdoors a welcoming place for all.

Spectator and participation sports include trail running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, aquathon, hiking and more. There is a full programme of talks from world class athletes, mountaineers and adventurers as well as two evening sets packed full of live music.

Operator & Route Developer

We love how companies had been getting creative during the pandemic, especially those that are encouraging us all to get outside and stay active. So we are delighted to be working with SixPack Events on its new and unique fitness challenge: The SixPack Marathon.

The SixPack Marathon Challenge comprises six bespoke multi-terrain routes in your chosen area that, when completed, add up to the full marathon distance of 42+km or 26.2 miles. It was designed to encourage people to get out and set themselves a challenge, leaving an imaginative, healthy and sporting legacy for all to enjoy locally.

It’s the participants choice when and how to tackle the six beautiful routes that make up the challenge. You can walk, jog or run (or a combination of all three) at your own pace, using technology to guide you around the routes and explore the area. It’s a really inclusive way to get runners of all levels involved in a fun challenge. There’s even a finishers medal once you’ve completed it.

There are currently four locations already up and running – Milton Keynes, Greater Manchester, Nottingham and Buckingham – and we’ll be working with SixPack Events to devise new routes to help bring this challenge closer to you. MUC-OFF -LAB 94 Product Launch / Photo Shoot

OUR TASK

When you launch the world’s most technical off-road riding wear, you need the world’s most rugged location services. So when Muc-Off needed an expert consultant to support a remote film- and photoshoot in the heart of the UK’s Lake District, we were the natural choice.
From mountain bike guiding to risk assessment, from project management to team leadership, we worked flexibly alongside the Muc-Off content team to provide strategic location planning and on-site operational support.

The Lab.94 technical clothing range was created with one simple mission: to create and build the finest technical equipment ever developed for off-road riding. Thanks to our sector insight and site management skills, we supported them to set up and create film and photo footage that captures the essence of their brand proposition.

EVENT MANAGEMENT.

When Bournemouth BMX Club secured host status for the final round of the 2019 HSBC UK BMX National Series, they were determined to deliver a showstopping event that would put them in the running to host a British Championship in years to come.

OUR TASK.

After several years’ absence from the national series circuit, Bournemouth BMX Club had everything to play for as they prepared to welcome the country’s best riders back to their track. We were by their side every step of the way, providing complete event management support that enabled them to realise their vision of a summer weekend event with a fun, festival feel.

From health and safety to stakeholder engagement, we supported the Bournemouth BMX Club team to deliver an exceptional event experience, whilst creating a high-value lasting legacy for the local community, the local economy and the club itself.

The event was reported as one of the ‘best ever’ BMX National Series events in its history of being hosted with the success of this event now seeing the Club win the bid to host the British Championships in August 2022.
